Day 4: National Museum of History

It's day 4 now of my stay in England. Aunty June decided that she will bring us to National Museum of History, one of the MUST GO place of England. It was about an hour travelling time from Epsom and I seriously getting the FULL DAY PASS for the train cause there are various discounts for that. We got a 3 for 2 promotion, where we only pay for 2 tickets instead of 3. Saved a lot there. Thanks Aunty! :)

The Museum is located in South Kensington, alongside with The Science Museum and also Victorian Museum. People keep telling me that I won't be able to finish ONE of the museum in one day, and how true that was. The museum was HUGEEEEEEE and beautiful nonetheless. Victorian designed with nice arch and a park, the museum boasts a breath of knowledge from within.

There was really A LOT to see inside. From skeletons of dinosaurs to specimens on animals to drawings to stones, they have it all. You can see thousand of people inside, from kids to adults, all enjoying the beautiful wisdom the museum has to offer. Oh ya, did I mention it's FREE to enter the place. It will take a normal human more than hours and hours to read and see everything in there.

We stopped by and had lunch at a place called Pret-a-Manger. Pret-a-Manger is a really popular chain in the UK which sells fresh bagguetes, bento boxes, sandwiches and anything on the go that you can name. Wanna know what's the weird thing about this place? A sandwich is GBP 2.49 if you take away and GBP 3.29 if you eat in. They are charging people for eating at their place! In Malaysia, we are being charged for take away, but this is the reverse. Well either way, they are getting really good business. I don't think there was a minute out of the 20minutes I was sitting there that the counter has got no one paying up. Oh ya, the food is good to be honest with you, and also cheap for local people. Maybe that explains the business.

After lunch, we went back to the National History Museum for a second round. There was a new section, named the David Attenborough Studio which houses a lot of animal specimens, more like a heaven for Zoologist. Now for all you all who doesn't know who David Attenborough is, he's the man behind most of the documentaries that you see in National Geography, that deep voice that you can hear is him. For more of his info, you can click this website: www.google.com. Don't be lazy! I was in chance to catch one of the talks by the people working there. This session, a girl was talking on her interest in worms and showed one of the biggest worm(dead and preserved) I've ever seen in my life. It's a 5m long worm which are endangered now. Geeky sciency stuff. :)

Moving on, we took a quick stop by at the Victorian Museum, but it's almost closed by the time I was there. Most of the things here are closed at 5PM, so gotta plan reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally good if you're on a time constrain. I'm gonna post pictures of the Victorian Museum anyway, although I find it really abstract for my science brain to understand the beautiful things inside. Or maybe I'm just tired.

Tired? NOT AT ALL! When we reached home, Uncle James decided to take us to Richmond Park, a 20 hectar forest reserve at the outskirt of London. This beautiful park houses wildlife such as deers, ducks and some other small critters. What is impressive about this park is if you sit around here and look up, you'll see planes flying pass EVERY SINGLE MINUTE. Heathrow Airport, the largest Airport in UK is nearby and park goers are able to enjoy the plane landing from the park. I find this a really romantic dating spots, for those who understand nature of course. By the way, this park used to be a hunting ground for King Henry VIII during his times, which explains the deer population around the park. Well that's about the end of my beautiful day 4 here.

I'll keep posting on my trip soon. Do come back soon! Byeee!!

Beautiful sculpture found in the Victorian Museum.

This is part of the Victorian Museum, a garden for people to chill out.
